Montefalco Sagrantino had its origins as a sweet wine to accompany mass, through its popularity as the peasant staple throughout the middle ages then its transformation by Caprai cellars in conjunction with Milan University into a dry best seller.

The itinerary includes daily visits to local vineyards and cellars with tastings of local food products as well as the exquisite local wines and a grape seed massage in the spa area of your exclusive accommodation.

Enjoy a wine itinerary immersed in the beautiful late medieval architecture of Umbria's hilltowns and the evocative patchwork landscape of olive groves, wheat fields and vineyards.

You will stay in luxury accommodation with spa in the main piazza of Montefalco, one of Umbria's most beautiful hilltowns.

Meal vouchers will allow you select a different restaurant each night in the town with specially arranged menus matched to local wines. The restaurants range through the hotel's own exclusive restaurant to an excellent local chef nearby in the piazza and at Villa Pambuffetti with their enormous gardens just outside the ton walls. There is also a trattoria and a pizzeria in the main street so you can choose from the full range of Montefalco's very local and traditional food offerings.

This is a preliminary itinerary. The program may be altered to accommodate seasonal variations and activities, including local festivals, exhibitions or concert performances. However the essential content of the itinerary will remain the same and an updated version of the itinerary will be presented on arrival. B L D means that breakfast, lunch and/or dinner will be included that day.

We also take a peek at the now famous frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli painted in 1450 and where there is evidence of a robust red wine on the tables of a feast.
